National Seed Science Distance Education Program
This proposed project uniquely brings together seed science experts from four universities: Colorado State University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Iowa State University, University of Kentucky, as well as the USDA-ARS-National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation, and an industry professional to develop six one-credit modular courses. The disciplines represented are Agronomy, Crop Science, and Horticulture. This team of university, USDA, and an industry professional strongly support this multi-regional and multi-disciplinary approach to reach these claimants. The courses will be offered by the host institutions via web-based learning. A national distance education steering committee for seed science has been established to coordinate this program through the Cooperative Regional Research Project W-168, Seed Biology, Technology and Ecology Investigations.
